Ruh Global Impact, a leading disability inclusion consulting firm, announces the passing of Judith Heumann, a tireless advocate and pioneer for disability rights. Heumann passed away on March 8, 2023, at 74.
Heumann was a well-known figure in the disability rights community, having devoted her life to advocating for the rights of people with disabilities. She was an integral part of the disability rights movement, having played a key role in the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990. Heumann was also a former Special Advisor for International Disability Rights at the US State Department, and she served as the World Bank’s first Advisor on Disability and Development.
